Beverly private school disqualified from Hope Scholarship program

BEVERLY – A private school in Beverly has been disqualified from participating in the Hope Scholarship Program due to “financial misconduct.”
The announcement, made this week by State Treasurer Larry Pack, said the Hope Scholarship Board has acted to “permanently disqualify Tygart Valley Christian Academy from participation in the Hope Scholarship Program for financial misconduct.”

Four killed in Junior fire

JUNIOR — Four people were killed in a mobile home fire Wednesday evening, officials said.
The fire took place on West River Avenue in Junior, and was reported at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday evening, Barbour County Office of Emergency Management Deputy Director Dylan Harper told The Inter-Mountain Thursday morning.

WVU gains Louisville starting pitcher out of the transfer portal

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia baseball landed a top ACC arm out of the transfer portal Tuesday night. The Mountaineers received a commitment from Louisville starting pitcher Colton Hartman, according to multiple sources. 64Analytics was on the story first.

U.S. Supreme Court upholds W.Va. transgender student-athlete prohibition

CHARLESTON – A majority of the justices on the U.S. Supreme Court said a West Virginia law prohibiting transgender girls and women from participating in sports designated for biological girls and women did not violate the rights of a Harrison County transgender girl.
In a 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of West Virginia and Idaho, which passed similar laws described as being aimed at protecting biological girls and women from being forced to compete against biological boys

Christopher Delano See

Christopher Delano See, 65, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life Sunday, June 28, 2026, at WV Caring Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins following a brief illness.
Chris was born Monday, April 24, 1961, in Elkins, a son of late Franklin Delano See and Jo Ellen Hewitt.
On Aug. 29, 1981, he was married to the former Deborah Ann Baer, who survives. They had celebrated 45 years of marriage.
