Elkins woman facing child abuse charges

ELKINS – An Elkins woman is facing felony charges after being accused of abusing three juveniles.
Sara R. Daniels, 36, of Elkins, has been charged with three counts of child abuse resulting in injury, a felony, and one count of strangulation, also a felony.
She is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Tracy M. Harper.

Free dinner planned for flood responders, volunteers

BUCKHANNON – A free community dinner is being planned as a “thank you” to all the “volunteers, first responders, organizations and community members who came together” during the deadly flooding in Upshur and Lewis counties in July 21.
WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital will host the “Stronger Together Free Community Dinner” from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 — a month to the day after the flooding began — at the Daily Grind, located at 20 Raella Lane in Buckhannon.

Grand jury to hear attempted murder case

ELKINS — Probable cause has been found in the case of a Barbour County woman accused of attempted murder after allegedly shooting another woman in the face during an altercation near Pickens.
Regina Lea Collette, 45, of Philippi, has been charged with attempted murder, a felony. She is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Tracy M. Harper.

Two July 21 tornadoes confirmed in Pendleton

TROUBLESOME VALLEY — Pendleton County saw two tornadoes touch down during the severe storms on July 21, officials said.
According to reports, during the July 21 storms, a EF1 tornado touched down at 7:25 p.m. on Kiser Gap Road in Franklin near Route 33. The tornado is said to have moved east/northeast through Troublesome Valley and into Fort Seybert. It then crossed the state line into Virginia before lifting in Criders, Virginia at 7:45 p.m., lasting only 20 minutes.
