Denny Hamlin captures race at Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — Denny Hamlin is pulling off quite a juggling act.
Hamlin outlasted the competition at Michigan International Speedway for his third NASCAR Cup Series victory of the season and 57th of his career, juggling his roles as a driver, expectant father and co-owner of a racing team that’s suing NASCAR.
“The tackle box is full,” Hamlin said Sunday. “There’s all kinds of stuff going on.”
Hamlin, in the No. 11 Toyota, went low to pass William Byron on the 197th of 200 laps and pulled

Hints From Heloise

Check out these spray-paint tips
Dear Heloise: May I share some spray-painting tips? We love to rejuvenate our yard seesaws with spray paint as rust and fading from the sun does happen over time. Prevention is the best medicine.
While some brands of spray paint require you to turn the can upside down, some require you to only wipe the tip after use in order to prevent a clog. And when applying a second or third coat, the times do vary greatly by brand from a few minutes to the next day. Times

Rodgers and Tomlin are kindred spirits

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Aaron Rodgers and Mike Tomlin share a competitive stubbornness. An inherent arrogance, too.
While that hardly makes them outliers in the alpha-driven NFL, their ability to keep the realities of the game they have helped define at bay for so long does.
Coaches aren’t supposed to go nearly two decades without experiencing a losing season. Tomlin has.
Quarterbacks aren’t supposed to recover from an Achilles injury in their 40s and return to throw for nearly 4,000 yards. Rodgers

Bureaucrats Bickering

There’s nothing quite like listening to bureaucrats and corporate representatives bicker while something of vital importance to ordinary citizens hangs in the balance. But that’s just what happened Tuesday when West Virginia Public Service Chairwoman Charlotte Lane had to call out electric utilities, internet service providers and state officials for dragging their feet on establishing rules for expanding fiber broadband on existing power poles.
Though a group of representatives for Appalachian

Those three little words

Six months after their disastrous performance in last November’s election, The New York Times reports the Democratic Party is “still searching for the path forward.”
Democrats have hired consultants, one of whom asked voters what animal would they assign each party (elephants and donkeys, the traditional symbols for the respective parties, didn’t make the cut).
The newspaper reports the survey showed Republicans were likened to “apex predators like lions, tigers and sharks.” Democrats were

Hints From Heloise

Avoiding
greasy pizza
Dear Heloise: I love a great pizza, but sometimes it gets delivered with one hang-up. The crust is not firm enough to pick up the pizza without folding away. It’s too “greasy”!
I solve the problem this way: I open the pizza box and slide the pizza to the “lid” of the box. The cardboard top is not soaked with drippings of the pizza. Let it sit on the “lid” for a few minutes.
Presto! The crust is firmer. — Kevin K., in Helena, Montana
