WVU women begin Big 12 play with 101-46 win over Houston

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia left no doubt it was ready to start Big 12 play as it punished a hapless Houston team coming off a one-conference-win season with a new coach and new hopes, 101-46, laughing to send the Cougars home for Christmas in a jolly good mood.
“Big 12 play was something we were looking forward to. We really wanted to come and put on our best performance,” said senior sharpshooter Sydney Shaw, who showed the way with 22 points.

ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College has released the president’s and dean’s list for the Fall 2025 semester. The president’s list includes all full-time students who earned a 4.0 grade point average for the semester, while those named to the dean’s list include all full-time students with a semester grade point average of 3.6 to less than 4.0.

Charter School Board appeals ruling

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Professional Charter School Board gave attorneys for two Monongalia County residents a present Thursday: an appeal to the state Supreme Court of Appeals of a lower court ruling pausing the approval of new charter schools and putting current charter schools at risk.

TV Middle School girls split games with Tucker Valley

MILL CREEK — The Tygarts Valley Middle School girls junior varsity team claimed a 39-4 win over Tucker Valley Thursday at Weber-Wamsley Court.
Bridget Wratchford led the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points, followed by Gavvy Arbogast with 11.
Tucker Valley claimed the varsity contest, 31-22.
Wratchford had five for Tygarts Valley.
