Body recovered in Ohio River near Wheeling

WHEELING, W.Va. — An investigation is underway after a body was found in the Ohio River Monday morning near Wheeling.
The body was recovered near the Interstate 470 bridge by the Wheeling Fire Department.
Authorities said the body was being taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for an autopsy.

Trial delayed in Kanawha County Sheetz murder case

CHARLESTON, W.Va – A Kanawha County man accused of first-degree murder will not go on trial as scheduled later this month.
Kanawha County Circuit Judge Maryclaire Akers granted the prosecution a continuance in the case of Jacob Fields, the 19-year-old who allegedly shot and killed 42-year-old Tiffany Adkins as she walked out of the Sheetz convenience store in Kanawha City last year.

Arrest made in Monongalia County stabbing death

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.  — A Maryland man is in custody after he allegedly killed a woman in a Morgantown area motel Sunday.
Monongalia County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at the Morgantown Motel on Smithtown Road Sunday and found a victim suffering from stab wounds. Deputies said the victim was able to identify her attacker as Karol Crosco, 49, of Garrett County, Maryland before she died.
Morgantown police later identified Crosco and detained him for deputies. Investigators

Skier dies at Timberline

CANAAN VALLEY, W. Va. — Timberline Ski Resort confirmed Sunday evening there was a death at the resort earlier in the day.
“It is with profound sadness that we can confirm the death of a guest at Timberline Mountain on Sunday, January 4th,” the Facebook post said. “We want to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this devastating loss.”
Resort officials said the incident is under investigation and further details would not be shared at this time.
