Lawmakers hear testimony over potential regulations on vaping products

CHARLESTON, W.Va – State lawmakers looking to increase regulations on nicotine vaping products got a look inside the industry and West Virginia’s enforcement of current regulations during interim committee meetings earlier this week.

25 years in prison for man who fired gun near Martinsburg High football game

MARTINSBURG, W. Va. — A Martinsburg man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a shooting incident that happened just outside a Martinsburg High School football game last fall.

Preston County law enforcement staffing issues stretch the sheriff’s office

KINGWOOD, W.Va. — The Preston County Sheriff’s Department is working to address staffing shortages as deputies leave for higher-paying jobs with other agencies in the region.

Apple Butter Festival returns to Berkeley Springs for its 50th season

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — For the 50th time since 1974, the Apple Butter Festival is coming back to Berkeley Springs.
Jules Happy Rone is the executive director of the Berkeley Springs/Morgan County Chamber of Commerce and one of the event’s organizers.  A recent guest on Panhandle Live,  she says she’s been coming to the festival since she was three.

Hancock County Commission reaches out to Ohio neighbors to help with animal shelter

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. — The Hancock County Commission has agreed with the Humane Society in nearby Jefferson County, Ohio for that organization to take over management and operations of the Hancock County animal shelter.
Hancock County officials said their Ohio neighbors will bring stability to the Hancock County program that’s been lacking.

Fall turkey season opens this weekend

WVDNR RELEASE 
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) today announced that turkey hunting will return to West Virginia when the fall season’s first segment opens in all 55 counties on Oct. 11.

Hundreds of Justice lots at Glade Springs are up for foreclosure sale

Several hundred lots owned by Justice Holdings are up for foreclosure sale, according to a legal notice in this morning’s Beckley Register-Herald.

Justice Holdings is company owned by the family of Senator Jim Justice, R-W.Va.
The sale is of almost 400 lots at Glade Springs Resort in Raleigh County where the Justice company has been at odds for several years with the community association over homeowners fees.
