Officials believe body cams in jails could limit lawsuits against Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation

CHARLESTON, W.Va – Officials overseeing the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (WVDCR) are asking for better accountability in the state’s jails with hopes of cutting down avoiding costly lawsuits.

Mayer says more than 100 beds at in-state facilities taken up by children who are truant, time to discuss other options

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia children considered truant occupy more than 100 beds in West Virginia care facilities that could be used by some of the 400 children currently placed outside the state for treatment.

Morgan County Senior Life Services vandalized twice

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Senior Life of Morgan County will continue serving Morgan County seniors despite two damaging and expensive incidents in the past week.

I-64 traffic snarled in Cabell County after tractor trailer crash

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — Interstate 64 in Cabell County was slowed Saturday afternoon after a tractor trailer skidded on its side.
The interstate was fully closed for a significant amount of time after the noon wreck and then one lane was opened in each direction.  Traffic was expected to be delayed into Saturday evening.
The wreck occurred between Barboursville and Ona.

DEP says it’s been able to contain transformer oil spill in Wyoming County

CLEAR FORK, W.Va. — The state Department of Environmental Protection says clean-up crews were able to keep a transformer oil spill in Wyoming County away from downstream water intakes.
The spill was first reported Friday near a substation along Clear Fork.
“As of Saturday morning, approximately 10,000 gallons of an oil-and-water mixture have been recovered. Impacts to downstream water intakes are not expected, and officials have not observed any effects on aquatic life at this time,” the DEP

Marshall looks to bounce back at Arkansas State

Marshall head coach Cornelius Jackson was upset with the result, but at least took satisfaction in the fight his team showed Wednesday night in rallying from a 10-point halftime deficit in a 72-68 loss at Texas State.
“The second half, I thought we came out and really matched it,” Jackson said. “Again, that was a few adjustments and personnel changes. We had a chance there at the end and were one stop away.”
