McCuskey submits filing to Supreme Court, asks to uphold West Virginia’s Save Women’s Sports Act.

CHARLESTON, W.Va.  — Attorney General J.B. McCuskey is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear and uphold the State of West Virginia v. B.P.J.

McCuskey wants the Supreme Court to reverse the injunction from 4th circuit after they issued a landmark decision in United States v. Skrmetti last week, which upheld Tennessee’s law restricting gender-transition interventions for minors. It affirmed the State’s authority to protect youth from “risky and unproven medical practices.”

KRT opens public hearings on more route changes, micro transit system

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority is hearing from the public on more changes they plan to roll out.
The KRT, which serves as the Kanawha Valley’s main form of public transportation, plans to fully or partially replace six bus routes with new micro transits. These micro transits are through the KRTPlus service, which was introduced last fall.

Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association urges pet owners to be aware of heat stroke during extreme temperatures

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Angie Gillenwater with the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association says that they are using the recent discovery of 14 puppies and their mom in the extreme heat to educate residents about the importance of keeping their animals safe during these times.

Governor supports mother’s lawsuit challenging school vaccination requirements

Gov. Patrick Morrisey expressed support for a mother’s lawsuit over the state’s current school vaccination requirements.

Name released in Harrison County drowning

SALEM, W.Va. — The kayaker who died Friday in the Salem area has been identified as a former standout football and track star from Robert C. Byrd High School
Jermodd Rashod “Rha Rha” Garrett, 31, of Clarksburg, went missing on Dog Run Lake late Friday morning, first responders were dispatched after witnesses reported Garrett calling for help. His body was recovered Friday evening after an extensive search.

Insurance adjustors busy in the West Virginia flood zone

WHEELING, W.Va. — Ohio County authorities report they have pulled more than 70 vehicles out of Wheeling Creek in the aftermath of the flash flooding from Father’s Day weekend.
