Missing Preston County man found dead in Maryland

KINGWOOD, W.Va. — The 84-year-old missing Preston County resident has been found deceased after a search lasting several days.
Willard DeWitt
West Virginia State Police said Willard DeWitt, who had significant medical issues and showed possible signs of dementia, was found dead inside his vehicle overturned in the Youghiogheny River near Oakland, Maryland on Monday.
Initially investigators cite road and medical conditions as causes of the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.

West Virginia entertainer mourns loss of filmmaker, writer Danny Boyd

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Prominent West Virginia filmmaker, writer, and longtime educator Danny Boyd died last week.
Boyd, 69, is a graduate of West Virginia University and the University of Arkansas. He began his filmmaking career in the early 1980s and went on to produce multiple award-winning films and documentaries. CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Two Charleston residents were sentenced Monday for their roles in a sex trafficking conspiracy that operated in Charleston and the Rand area of Kanawha County, following their convictions at trial.

DOH warns of pothole surge following frigid temperatures

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The state Division of Highways is encouraging motorists to brace for potholes that are coming following the two weeks of frigid temperatures after the snow and ice that swept through the state.
The DOH said in a news release, that once the snow and ice does melt it will show a fresh new crop of potholes on the roads.
