USA Cycling road races to bring additional closures across Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The USA Cycling championships in Charleston are nearing their conclusion, and road races beginning Friday will bring additional road closures throughout the city.

Lawyers for Omni affiliate say Justices are asking local court ‘to save their bacon’ in hotel battle

An affiliate of the Omni Hotels & Resorts chain and the longtime banker for the owners of The Greenbrier continue to say claims filed on behalf of Senator Jim Justice and his family business should be knocked out of state court.

Charleston police release more information about crash involving fire department vehicle

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police have released more information about a deadly collision in Charleston involving a Charleston Fire Department SUV.
Charleston police said in a Thursday afternoon news release the CFD SUV was traveling east on Lee Street West on the city’s West Side at about 6:14 p.m. Wednesday when the SUV struck a passenger car that have traveled into the intersection with Ohio Avenue.

Community Catalyst Grant applications are open through West Virginia First Foundation through June 30

The West Virginia First Foundation, which was established to use drug lawsuit settlement money to try to alleviate problems related to addiction, reported having access to $378.5 million in financial resources and noted that more than $34 million in grants have been awarded since the organization’s start.
The West Virginia First Foundation met for a few minutes Thursday at Ascend West Virginia in Charleston. The meeting was also available for view through streaming.

WV News executive, husband charged in Taylor County investigation

GRAFTON, W.Va. — The chief financial officer of Clarksburg-based WV News and her husband have been charged by Grafton police with a misdemeanor crime related to drugs.
Police said Crystal Eifert, 47, and her husband, Timothy Eifert, 54, both of Grafton, have both been charged with operating a drug house.
Police said they were alerted to the Eifert property by neighbors who reported a high volume of traffic at the residence on Yates Avenue.

Capito calls Iran deal a peaceful resolution but wants more congressional oversight

Senator Shelley Moore Capito is still assessing a memorandum of understanding signed by President Trump this week, saying it offers a potentially peaceful resolution to the conflict but with continuing uncertainties.

Storm systems powerful, but damage minimal

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Despite numerous tornado warnings and flood watches from the National Weather Service, most of West Virginia was able to escape the strong weather with very little damage.
Power outages marked the worst problems left behind by two separate storm systems which crossed the state Thursday morning. The storms rolled in from the midwest overnight and arrived just as the sun was coming up.
