Lincoln County hunter scores on a new piece of property despite a myriad of mishaps

LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. — When Donny Baisden got a chance to purchase a piece of hunting property earlier this year, he jumped at the opportunity. Baisden already has a camp in Lincoln County and learned the man who owned the property not far from his camp was looking to sell a considerable piece of land. When he checked it out, Baisden was satisfied he’d fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own hunting property.
“It was exactly what I wanted and we went through the process and once I paid for

Morrisey: Miner killed in Nicholas County flood was the “quintessential West Virginian”

SWISS, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey says Steve Lipscomb, the miner who was found dead at the Rolling Thunder Mine Thursday, was among the best West Virginia had to offer.
Lipscomb, 42, of Elkview, was killed as a result of the mine flooding over the weekend. Lipscomb was a foreman, and according to Morrisey, he ensured his colleagues got out of the mine safely.
“As I started to learn more information, I knew that Steven was doing some pretty incredible things. Trying to make sure, as the

Marshall looks to get back on track, keep hope alive for winning season at Georgia State

— By Bill Cornwell
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Last Saturday’s 35-23 loss to James Madison in Huntington was tough to take for Marshall as it came in the annual contest honoring 75 victims of the November 14, 1970 Marshall football plane crash.
The Thundering Herd battled the Dukes and were stopped on fourth down in JMU territory in the fourth quarter while facing a five-point deficit.
As a result of the most recent setback, the Herd (4-5, 2-3) needs to win twice more to qualify for a bowl game. Its
