State says GreenPower is in default; GreenPower says state is in material breach of deal

The State of West Virginia has issued GreenPower Motor Company a final notice of default, saying the electric school bus manufacturer fell months behind on lease payments, according to records obtained by MetroNews.
The state Department of Economic Development, in a May 22 letter obtained through a public records request, says GreenPower is required to make good on all lease payments within 30 days or state agencies “will seek further legal remedies available.”

Class AA all-state list

WHEELING, W.Va. — Koy Lipinski’s season very much mirrored his Wheeling Central Maroon Knights’ season as a whole– a good start, but an even better finish.
The Maroon started their season with a sturdy 9-2 record, but from there on, they hit another gear, finishing 27-4 and winning the Class AA championship 7-0 over Philip Barbour. Lipinski, captain of the Class AA All-State first team, followed that track individually.

Morrisey: body recovered in Wetzel County, believed to be from weekend flooding

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey has confirmed that a body was found in Wetzel County Monday.
Morrisey, in a post on X, stated that the body is suspected to be from the flooding in nearby Ohio County that claimed six other lives.

An unidentified body has been recovered in Wetzel County, suspected to be from the recent flooding. We have not yet confirmed definitively if this individual is a flood victim. If confirmed, this would be the 7th fatality from the floods.

Hundreds honor “champion for West Virginia” Doug Skaff

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — For hours Monday evening, people wrapped around the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston, waiting in line to pay their respects to beloved businessman and former Delegate Doug Skaff Jr.

Man, women arrested after police find methamphetamine during traffic stop

WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. –A man and woman are in custody after a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of two pounds of methamphetamine in Wood County.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin Gardner, of Parkersburg, and Cidney Nichols, of Walker were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, transporting meth into the state and conspiracy.

Cabell-Huntington Health Department join Move More with Active SWV Challenge

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. –How do you measure a mountaineer mile? That’s what the Cabell-Huntington Health Department, in partnership with Active Southern West Virginia and Physical Activity Plan of West Virginia, are trying to find out.

Ohio County official release names of the six dead from weekend flash flooding amid recovery efforts

WHEELING, W.Va. –Officials with the Ohio County Police Department have released the names of those individuals who have died as a result of the flash flooding that occurred in the area beginning Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Most Juneteenth festivities in Charleston to get underway a day later after Gov. Morrisey announces state workers won’t get the day off

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Most of the Juneteenth festivities in the Capital City are moved to Friday this year after Governor Patrick Morrisey said he would not be giving state employees the day off on the recently-designated federal and state holiday.
Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating the official and final end to slavery in America, falls on Thursday, June 19th this year.
