Lady Bulldogs get past Pendleton

MILL CREEK — Tygarts Valley held Pendleton County without a field goal in the third quarter en route to a 48-38 win Tuesday night in a battle of regional foes at Weber-Wamsley Court.
Sarah Defibaugh scored 16 of her game-high 22 points over the first two quarters as the Lady Bulldogs took a 25-20 lead into the intermission.
Both teams went cold from the floor in the third canto — combining for just 10 points — as Tygarts Valley carried a 32-23 cushion in the final canto.

Randolph’s Morris succeeds Rucker as committee chair

CHARLESTON — State Sen. Robbie Morris, an experienced economic development official, will become the new chairman of the Senate Government Organization Committee after its previous chair was promoted.
According to a press release from state Senate President Randy Smith, R-Preston, on Tuesday morning, Morris, R-Randolph, will take the reins of the Senate Government Organization Committee, succeeding newly appointed Senate Assistant Majority Leader Patrica Rucker, R-Jefferson.

White House says military an option to take Greenland

(AP) — The White House said Tuesday that “U.S. military is always an option,” even as a series of European leaders rejected President Donald Trump’s comments about seeking an American takeover of the world’s largest island.
Trump has floated since his first term the idea of purchasing Greenland, which is part of the kingdom of Denmark. But, after this weekend’s U.S. military action in Venezuela, he’s renewed calls for the U.S. to take over Greenland, citing strategic reasons.

WVU adds Oklahoma QB out of portal

West Virginia might’ve signed its quarterback of the future.
Oklahoma backup quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. has reportedly signed with the Mountaineers after two years with the Sooners, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He’s also coming to Morgantown with his brother, Maliek Hawkins, as a package deal. Maliek plays corner.

Browns fire coach Stefanski after six seasons

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have fired coach Kevin Stefanski after six seasons.
Stefanski is the fourth NFL coach fired this season, joining Tennessee’s Brian Callahan, the New York Giants’ Brian Daboll and Atlanta’s Raheem Morris.
The Browns won their final two games to finish 5-12, including a 20-18 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
The 43-year-old Stefanski is a two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year and had a 46-58 overall record. He led Cleveland to playoff appearances

Hospital Association backs Morrisey’s efforts

DAVIS – A guest died at Timberline Mountain resort in Tucker County on Sunday, officials said.
