Prison incident headed to grand jury

ELKINS — Probable cause has been found against a Randolph County man accused of possessing a controlled substance that led to him, a correctional officer and a nurse all having to be transported to a local hospital.
Jason Mark Sadler, 35, of Huntington, appeared in Randolph County Magistrate Court for a preliminary hearing where Randolph County Magistrate Tracy Harper found probable cause against him on three felony charges. Sadler’s case will now be brought before the Randolph County Grand

ELKINS — Berths in the state semifinals are on the line this evening for Philip Barbour and Tucker County.
The third-seeded Colts (9-2) will host No. 11 Clay County (8-3) in Class AA quarterfinal play at George Byrer Field at Freedom Bank Park at 7 p.m..
It will be the first time in school history Philip Barbour has hosted a quarterfinal game as the Colts also look for their first-ever appearance in the state semifinals on the gridiron.

Three Philip Barbour products garner MEC volleyball laurels

BRIDGEPORT — Three Philip Barbour High School products have earned All-Mountain East Conference volleyball honors.
West Virginia Wesleyan’s Emily Denison and MacKenna Halfin, along with West Virginia State’s Alyssa Hill are listed as honorable mention on the All-MEC team, released Wednesday by the conference.
Denison is a junior, while Halfin a freshman and Hill a senior.
Halfin was selected to the All-MEC Freshman Team as well.

Janet Dayle Lytle

Janet Dayle Lytle, 81, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor John Welch officiating.
The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Janet Dayle Lytle.
