Seeking rest and relaxation at last

Dear Annie: My husband and I are at a full-blown spring break standoff, and the kids are watching it like it’s a sport.
He wants to take our two kids skiing. He’s already talking about “fresh powder,” early lift tickets and how this is the perfect chance to make “core memories.” He grew up skiing, and it’s his happy place. I can see how excited he is, and I’m not trying to be the villain who cancels joy.
But I want to go somewhere warm. Not “a light jacket” warm, but genuinely warm. Sun. Sand.

Dilly offers input from BOE survey

ELKINS — The Randolph County Superintendent of Schools said he “had hoped for more respondents” to a survey seeking input on potential bond and levy proposals.
“The survey that we sent out for the bond and levy was completed on February 13 and we had 399 respondents,” Dr. Shawn Dilly told the Board of Education during the most recent BOE meeting. “I had hoped for more respondents, but this is kind of sometimes the ongoing challenge.”

House passes bill providing EMS funds

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia House of Delegates passed a bill Monday creating a new comprehensive funding framework to bolster emergency medical services across the state.
House Bill 5168 passed Monday afternoon on a 94-0 vote with six absent or not voting. The bill now heads to the state Senate.

12 indicted by Barbour County grand jury

PHILIPPI – A total of 12 people were indicted by a Barbour County grand jury on Monday, for alleged crimes including attempted murder and arson.
The following indictments are public at this time and the remaining indictments are sealed within the court record, according to court officials.
Christopher Bolyard, 35, has been indicted on one count of attempted murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and malicious assault.

ELKINS — A total of 36 individuals were indicted by a Randolph County grand jury Monday, for alleged crimes including sexual abuse, counterfeiting and threats of terroristic acts.

HARMAN — Lily Roy, a student at the Harman K-12 School, was recently recognized by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office during a special recognition ceremony.
