BUCKHANNON – The mayor of Buckhannon is asking for prayers for the area hit hard by Tuesday night’s severe storm.
At about 9:45 a.m., Mayor Robbie Skinner posted the following to social media:
“First and foremost, the City of Buckhannon, North-Central Upshur County, and everyone here… we need your prayers. Many homes and businesses are badly damaged, and hundreds of city streets and roadways in and around the city remain impassable meaning resources are cut off to many.

ELKINS – The highly anticipated purchase of a longtime Elkins restaurant and theater by a community church has fallen through, officials said.
Owners of the Steer Steakhouse and Gandy Dancer Theater told The Inter-Mountain this week the two facilities will not be sold in December, as had been announced previously. The Inter-Mountain confirmed the news with officials from the Refinery Church, which had previously planned to buy the facilities.

BELINGTON — A Barbour County man is facing charges after allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content level three times over the legal limit and causing an accident that injured two elderly people.
Dayton Lee Isenhart, 22, of Philippi, is charged with one count of DUI with injury and one count of aggravated DUI, both misdemeanors. Isenhart was being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 10% cash bond that has since been posted.

BOWDEN – An airplane traveling from North Carolina to Michigan was forced to make an emergency landing on U.S. Route 33 near the Faulkner Road exit in Randolph County Monday afternoon.
