Browns trade Myles Garrett to Rams

(AP) — Myles Garrett finally got his wish — to be a part of a consistent winning team instead of one in perpetual rebuilding.
The Cleveland Browns traded the two-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year to the Los Angeles Rams for pass rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks in a blockbuster deal on Monday.

Seibert retires from Mountain Memories Assisted Living

ELKINS — Richard Seibert has been at Mountain Memories Assisted Living & Retirement Center since the inception of the facility. He not only served as the Director of Maintenance and Environmental Services at the facility dating back to when it was Colonial Place, he also helped work on the construction plans for the facility back in the early 1990s. Now, the long-time employee at the facility has retired.

WVU secures commitment from 3-star defensive lineman

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia football scored a highly-recruited defensive lineman for the class of 2027. Zai’Vion Meads announced on social media that he had committed to the Mountaineers Sunday night. The Louisville, Kentucky, native had offers from Nebraska, Purdue, Baylor and Missouri.

Barbour man facing multiple felonies

ELKINS — A Barbour County man faces felony charges after allegedly fleeing from police while drunk, trying to take an officer’s gun and threatening to kill an EMT.
Jonathan Nicholas Durking, 26, of Belington, is charged with one count of attempt to disarm an officer, one count of fleeing DUI and one count of terroristic threats, all felonies. He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.

Fair retires after 15 years in Drug Courts

ELKINS — Matthew Fair has retired from the Randolph County Juvenile and Adult Drug Courts after 15 years of donated time, dedication and care.

ELKINS- The Randolph County Democratic Party will host its annual Democracy Dinner Saturday, June 13th, at the Wingate at Wyndham in Elkins beginning at 6 p.m.

ELKINS — A total of 186 members of Elkins High School’s Class of 2026 graduated during commencement ceremonies on Friday evening.

Philippi, Parsons to receive water funding

CHARLESTON – Construction of a reservoir in Barbour County and water line improvements in Tucker County are among the projects to receive state funding to support water systems.

Concerns raised about America 250 plans

CHARLESTON – A new task force planning celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence is not competing with a commission created by the Legislature five years ago to do the same thing, Gov. Patrick Morrisey said.
