As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, it took a wave of soccer fans flooding into the country for the World Cup to remind us of that.
Fans from across the world have been documenting their trips across the United States on social media, often amazed that their experiences are not necessarily what they were expecting. The people they have encountered are much different than how they are generally portrayed in the media.

by WV MetroNewsHARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. –A Harrison County man faces prison time after he admitted to making threats against President Donald Trump and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Cody Lee Smith, 20, of Clarksburg plead guilty to making threats to kill Trump and to harm ICE agents, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Matt Harvey.
According to the release, on January 17, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department had reported that Smith posted threats on social media,

by WV MetroNewsDAVIS, W.Va. — A pair of rising high school seniors claimed WVGA Junior Amateur Championships Thursday at Canaan Valley Resort. Tommy Evans of Washington High School defended his title while Lexi Green of Capital High School won the girls division in a playoff.
Evans began the final round tied with Bridgeport’s Alex Randolph atop the leaderboard. His second birdie of the day came on the Par 3 16th hole, one of the most challenging holes on the course. The 10-foot putt gave him a two-stroke lead

by WV MetroNewsJUNIOR, W.Va. — The remnants of fireworks are believed to be the cause of a mobile home fire Wednesday night in Barbour County which left four people dead.
Investigators were able to determine the fire started on one end of the wooden front porch of the trailer. Deputy State Fire Marshal Jason Baltic said after investigators dug through the debris of the fire on River Avenue in Junior they discovered a number of discarded fireworks tubes and other materials which had been placed in a trash bag.

Morrisey began his tour in Kanawha County, where he rode the 230-foot Ferris wheel on the state Capitol grounds. He then traveled to Jackson County for the opening ceremony of the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair at Cedar Lakes Conference Center.
