Wheeling residents speak out about proposed data center

WHEELING, W.Va. — Concerns linger in the Ohio Valley about a potential data center coming to the area.
AI infrastructure company Silicon Foundation purchased the former Centre Foundry and Machine site in the community of Warwood. In late June, plans to convert the 15-acre site into a data center were announced. Silicon Foundation purchased the land for $1.5 million.

Hopeful for improved health, Hudgins also wants to win at a higher rate as Mountaineer

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Two things, above all else, have hampered Marya Hudgins throughout four seasons of college basketball.
A series of injuries limited Hudgins to playing 97 of a possible 134 games up to this point, including separate setbacks at BYU that forced the 6-foot redshirt senior to be sidelined for half of the Cougars’ 68 contests over the last two seasons.

Harrison County schools taken over by state, Randolph County released and Roane County on watch

The state school board released Randolph County from a state of emergency, extended a state of emergency in Roane County for six months and declared a state of emergency in Harrison County.
The actions took place during a state Board of Education meeting on Wednesday.
Now under state intervention are: Roane, Mingo, Logan, Upshur, Nicholas, Tyler, Hancock, Boone and Harrison.
With Harrison County, the state action now limits the the local board’s authority, delegating financial and personnel

Morgantown Council approves resolution to move away from ‘hostile architecture’

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The University City will move forward with an effort to remove infrastructure from municipal property that is deemed ‘hostile architecture’ towards residents and visitors.

West Virginia gets DOJ letter saying state officials could face criminal charges if noncitizens vote

West Virginia was among the states sent a warning by the U.S. Department of Justice that officials could face criminal prosecution if noncitizens vote.
The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office, which is in a federal lawsuit about turning over personal voter information to the federal government, received the letter Tuesday from Harmeet Dhillon, the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division chief.

The 25th Anniversary of the Great Flood of 2001

Sunday, July 8, 2001 was a dark day for many in the southern West Virginia coalfields. Rainfall poured that night and dumped 5 to 8 inches of rain in parts of Raleigh, Wyoming, and McDowell Counties. Marshall AD addresses lawsuit over NCAA eligibility rule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –Marshall University Athletic Director Gerald Harrison addressed a lawsuit Tuesday challenging the NCAA’s new eligibility rule, which was filed by 12 former student-athletes from multiple sports.
