CHARLESTON, W.Va. – About one month away from announcing the state’s budget for next year, Governor Patrick Morrisey says it will include a pay raise for all state employees.
During an administration update on Thursday, Morrisey revealed his plan to build in the increase for teachers, school service personnel, state police, corrections officers, and other workers.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia American Water Company says it plans to make millions of dollars of additional improvements to its water system in 2026 and its seeking an increase in a surcharge to do so.
Testimony began Thursday before the state Public Service Commission in the utility’s DSIC case.
DSIC, which stands for Distribution System Improvement Charge, allows utilities to collect a surcharge on customers’ bills for work its planning to do.

Research shows that the way young adults (ages 18 to 29) consume the news is changing rapidly.
First, begin with this finding. Pew Research shows that just 15 percent of young adults follow the news “all or most of the time,” compared with 62 percent of those who are 65 and older. Additionally, these young adults are more likely to seek out entertainment news and less likely than older Americans to get news about government, politics, science and technology, and business and finance.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A former swim coach in Parkersburg has entered a plea deal relating to charges of sexual assault and abuse of children.
David Andrew Adams, 38, of Parkersburg, entered a Kennedy plea on Wednesday before Circuit Judge Jason Wharton.
Adams was originally charged in 2023 with sexually assaulting and abusing three young girls under the age of 12. He formerly served as the head swim coach of the Parkersburg Sharks at the local YMCA.
