Local law enforcement gets perks for partnerships with ICE that led to 650 arrests in West Virginia

An immigration sweep that resulted in more than 600 arrests in West Virginia was built on collaboration with a growing number of local law enforcement agencies, which in recent months have been rewarded with hard-to-pass-up incentives to work with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Wayne water cleared for use

WAYNE, W.Va. –– The Mayor of Wayne has given the green light to municipal water customers to resume full use of the town’s water service.
Mayor Danny Grace on Friday announced the protective orders issued to residents over the town’s water service has been fully lifted.

Hegseth indicates Beckstrom and Wolfe will receive the Purple Heart

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth indicated two members off the West Virginia National Guard shot in the line of duty in Washington D.C. will be awarded the purple heart.
The acknowledgement came as Hegseth addressed a group of guard troops in a re-enlistement ceremony Friday at the Washington Monument. Hegseth referred to West Virginia National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and West Virginia Air Guard Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe as “soon to be Purple Heart recipients.”

Air Quality Board sides with developers of Tucker County data center

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Over objections from a number of community opponents, the West Virginia Air Quality board has upheld an air quality permit for construction of a power plant and data center in Tucker county.
Three organizations, Tucker United, the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy, and SierraClub appealed the permit approved by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection for Fundamental Data’s project near the towns of Davis and Thomas.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Despite winning the first three bouts, No. 16 West Virginia was unable to hold onto their early lead, dropping their final home contest of the year to No. 20 Missouri, 26-13.

Ruby tells lawmakers WV Culture Center faces major maintenance needs

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –State Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby told lawmakers Thursday that there could be millions of dollars in deferred maintenance needed at the West Virginia Culture Center.

Fugitive sex offender arrested in Kentucky for failure to register as a sex offender

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –U.S. Marshals have arrested a fugitive sex offender wanted in West Virginia.

David Mark Scott, 53, of McCarr, KY, who is originally from Charleston, WV. was arrested Wednesday.
According to a release, Scott was wanted by the West Virginia State Police for failure to register as a sex offender. He was also wanted by the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation.
In July 2020, he was convicted in Mingo County Circuit Court
