Site dedication held for new Westmoreland Fire Station

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –The neighborhood of Westmoreland in Huntington will soon be seeing a new fire station in the area.

After almost 20 years, a new Westmoreland Fire Station is going to be constructed to help make the facility more modern.
The old station, which is located 509 Camden Road, was built almost 100 years ago in 1926.

WV DOH says repairs will be made to a troublesome dip at a bridge along I-64 in Kanawha County

NITRO, W.Va. — West Virginia Division of Highways spokesman Brent Walker says they were made aware of a troublesome dip along Interstate 64 in Kanawha County following a major road construction project.
After what was being deemed the largest Roads to Prosperity project that was completed in November that saw six miles of interstate widening along I-64 between Nitro and Scott Depot, and the construction of two bridges there, several complaints have come in regarding a major dip on the eastbound

Harrison County ATV crash victim identified

WALLACE, W.Va. — The victim in a deadly Monday afternoon ATV crash in Harrison County has been identified as a 74-year old woman.
Police said Anita White was riding with another woman on a trail about a mile off of Jones Run Road near Wallace when the accident happened. Due to poor cell phone service, the call for help came about two hours after crash occurred, authorities said.
White died after the crash. Police said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.

Officials say USA Cycling Pro Road National Championship sees even more success in its second year in the Capital City

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO Tim Brady says it was another successful year hosting the USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships in the Capital City.

Accidental shooting claims a life in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A woman is dead and a teenager faces charges after a tragic incident at a Charleston convenience store early Tuesday morning.
According to Charleston Police Chief of Detectives Tony Hazelett, a 42-year old woman was shot as she was walking into the Sheetz Convenience Store on MacCorkle Avenue in the Kanawha City section of Charleston. The fatal shot was errantly fired from another vehicle parked at a nearby gas pump.
