Lewis County man arrested in connection with infant’s death

LEWIS COUNTY, W.Va. –A man is in jail in connection with the death of an infant in Lewis County.
According to a release from the West Virginia State Police, Zachary J. Williams, 28, of Jane Lew, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder and child abuse resulting in death.
The charges come after state troopers resonded to a residence in the McWhorter area on Sunday, May 25 to the report of an unresponsive infant. When they arrived, they launched an investigation into the matter and the child

Yeager Airport officials say transition to REAL ID requirements have been smooth so far

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — After it became a requirement on May 7th for people to start presenting what is called a REAL ID to board domestic flights, West Virginia International Yeager Airport Director and CEO Dominque Ranieri says the transition has been smooth so far.

Kanawha-Charleston Health Department epidemiologist share importance of lead testing for children

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Regional Epidemiologist for central West Virginia Daniel Barker says children between the ages of one and five are required to have their blood lead levels tested twice in the state of West Virginia, however in Kanawha County less than 50% of children have only been tested once.

Pilgrim’s Pride opens the first of several employee housing units

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — A lack of housing has created a dilemma for one national brand with operations in Hardy County. Pilgrims Pride on Wednesday unveiled the first 12 units of an apartment comlex which will be almost exclusively for company employees in Moorefield.

FestivALL Charleston returns to the Capital City for its 21st year

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The City of Charleston is becoming a work of art for five days.

EMS crews closing doors continues to grow in West Virginia, while others try to pick up the slack

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Financial issues in the EMS system across the state are once again in the forefront after Hillsboro EMS, which serves Pocahontas County, folded last week. Governor promises administration will be more open about West Virginia child welfare

Gov. Patrick Morrisey pledged his administration will be more open about the challenges of West Virginia’s child welfare system.
The governor said the changes follow a series of listening sessions held across the state with key stakeholders and a thorough review of past child fatalities and near fatalities within the child welfare system.
“In previous years, the state stonewalled about the status of children in its care – and that changes now,” Morrisey said during a briefing with reporters.
