PSC orders city of Weirton to implement action plans following water crisis last winter

WEIRTON, W.Va. — The Public Service Commission of West Virginia Wednesday ordered the Weirton Area Water Board to implement proposals and action plans to address water problems.
The board submitted plans in October on how to replace cast iron and galvanized pipe in the water system over the next five years.
Last winter, between 300 and 400 residents were without water for an extended period of time due to main breaks. An investigation from the PSC showed that 40 percent of the city’s water lines

Cryptic e-mail prompted a sweep at West Virginia International Yeager Airport

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Passenger security checks were slowed for a brief time Wednesday at West Virginia’s largest Airport.
The FAA received an e-mail which included crytic language involving West Virginia International Yeager Airport as well as other airports across the country. Although it was determined by the FAA and TSA to not be a credible threat, officials at CRW took a look around anyway.
“Since safety is top priority, we wanted to check things out and make sure everything was okay. So we

The initial rollout will be limited — roughly 1,000 borrowers who have not made a payment in more than a year — but officials say the number will increase steadily month by month. The move
