EPA puts modified WOTUS out for public comment

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The federal EPA is proposing a new rule to redefine “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) to comply with the 2023 Sackett v. EPA Supreme Court decision and to cut government bureaucracy.

Toddler dead in Berkeley County from gunshot wound, man arrested for child neglect

BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. — A Berkeley County man is facing charges after a young boy died from a gunshot wound.
According to a release from the Berkeley County Sherrif’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a reported shooting on Needmore Road at around 7:30 p.m. last Friday.
Upon arrival, the deputies located a two-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies and crews attempted to save the child, but he later died from his injuries.

Pack wants legislators to prioritize teacher pay increases, HOPE Scholarship in upcoming legislative session

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The state Division of Highways will hear public comment on the next phase of Morgantown Green Bag Road improvements Tuesday evening.

I-64 East closed in Cabell County after vehicle fire

Traffic has been stalled for multiple hours in eastbound lanes of I-64 in Cabell County after a vehicle caught fire.
According to WV 511, the fire was reported at around 1 p.m. near mile marker 30. That’s on the Cabell-Putnam County line in the Culloden area.
Cabell County dispatchers say the fire was caused by a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were immediately reported from the accident.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — As the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament begins Thursday with 16 matches at campus sites around the country, West Virginia (12-4-3, RPI: 21) finds themselves in a similar position to a year ago. WV Lottery on track to outpace revenues from last year

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Revenues are up for the West Virginia Lottery compared to last year, with officials crediting draw-based games, particularly high jackpots in both Powerball and Mega Millions.
