Former Justice official says Morrisey is misinformed on road issues, Roads to Prosperity details

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A key member of the Jim Justice administration claims the Patrick Morrisey administration doesn’t have all the facts on state Department of Transportation operations and finances.
Former Justice administration chief-of-staff Brian Abraham said Morrisey’s description of DOT operations is misinformed and similar to claims he made about an impending budget deficit.

Marshall extends Cornelius Jackson’s contract through 2029-30 season

Cornelius Jackson’s first season as head coach of Marshall’s men’s basketball team produced a 20-win season and a fifth-place finish in the Sun Belt Conference.
It also helped lead to a contract extension for Jackson through the 2029-30 season, which the MU Board of Governors approved Wednesday to make it official.

W.Va. Board of Education takes over Boone County Schools; state of emergency declared for Randolph County

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The West Virginia Board of Education will seize full control over Boone County Schools and place Randolph County Schools under a state of emergency.

Fayette County Schools vote to ban cellphones in the classroom

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — The Fayette County Board of Education has unanimously taken a vote to ban the use of cellphones in the classroom.
The board voted 5 to 0 at their Tuesday night meeting to follow through with the ongoing plans to prohibit cellphones, which coincides with HB 2003 that Governor Patrick Morrisey signed into law in April.

West Virginia Regional Senior All-Star Softball Game set for Thursday at Buffalo

Sixty high school softball seniors from all across West Virginia will give it one more go at the prep level Thursday during the annual West Virginia Regional Senior All-Star Softball Game at Buffalo High School.
What originally began in 2004 as a North-South event held at West Virginia State was moved to Buffalo the following year and has been there since. However, it is now a four-team regional-based event, a format that began in 2020.

David Price says he leaves the SSAC in a much better place

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. –– West Virginia SSAC Executive Director David Price is “playing out string” to borrow a sports term. “His legacy runs right through all of us”; community remembers Doug Skaff

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Those who knew Doug Skaff are both crying and smiling after his tragic death from injuries suffered in an automobile crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 79 in Lewis County.
The sadness is obvious. It’s blended with shock and almost disbelief. Skaff, only 48, is gone.

State Police accident team looks for details in Skaff’s fatal wreck

WESTON, W.Va. — An accident reconstruction team from the West Virginia State Police continues to work on finding all of the details of the fatal crash which claimed the life of Doug Skaff in Lewis County.
