HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Converting on a set piece, having playmakers deliver and the goalkeeper making the clutch save in a 1-on-in 1 situation moments into the match contributed to Marshall defeating UC Santa Barbara, 4-0, in men’s soccer on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Hoops Family Field/Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.

Disaster relief application period winding down in Ohio, Marion Counties

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Small Business Administration and Federal Emergency Management Agency Disaster Recovery Centers in Ohio and Marion counties will remain open to process relief applications through Sept. 22 as a result of Father’s Day weekend floods.
FEMA Public Affairs Soecialist John Frederick said the centers at the Triadelphia Community Center in Ohio County and at the Public Safety Building in Fairmont along with the Falcon Center on the campus of Fairmont State University.

Two programs at Marshall see enrollment increase for fall 2025

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –The cybersecurity programs at Marshall University are seeing a significant enrollment increase this fall.
In a news release, they announced that since 2020, the Bachelor of Science in Cyber Forensics program has seen an enrollment increase of more than 100 students. In addition, the Master’s in Cybersecurity has seen an enrollment increase of more than 40 students since the fall 2019 semester.

Morgantown set to receive ATF-certified canine

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Morgantown Fire Marshal’s Office has been selected to attend the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Accelerant Detection Canine course in Virginia later this month.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Joe Manchin’s book tour hits the road Monday with a visit to New York City.

West Virginia is ready with final proposal for broadband expansion, but concerns over coverage remain

West Virginia is ready to go with its final proposal for Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment funding, a long-anticipated resource meant to give the Mountain State long-sought internet connectivity, but there’s already some concern that the initiative might not fully live up to its hype.
Even though it’s called a final proposal, the broadband internet expansion plan isn’t yet set in stone. It’s still to be reviewed by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.

Edwards seizes opportunity to play pivotal role in overtime win against Pitt

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Tye Edwards’ first carry in a West Virginia uniform went for 12 yards on the final play of the first quarter Saturday against Pitt.

West Virginia lawmakers adamant that government shutdown will be averted

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Members of West Virginia’s congressional delegation insist there’s no chance of the government shutting down, even as Democratic lawmakers threaten to close it at the end of the month without concessions by Republicans.
US Senator Jim Justice is adamant that ultimately, neither party wants to be responsible for a shutdown.
