Brushfork Man Arrested After Violent Domestic Dispute Involving Juvenile

BRUSHFORK, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Brushfork man is facing multiple charges after a domestic incident involving a juvenile and another adult on Friday, June 6, 2025.
At approximately 5:33 p.m., West Virginia State Police responded to a call from Mercer County 911 regarding a domestic dispute.  The call was made after a juvenile girl reportedly fled the home and ran across the street to ask a neighbor for help.

Stuck military vehicle temporarily closes mountainous road in West Virginia

RACINE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A military recovery vehicle caused a temporary road closure early Thursday morning after getting stuck on Drawdy Mountain.
According to the Racine Volunteer Fire Department, the vehicle was identified as an M88 Armored Recovery Vehicle.

WV State Board of Education votes to disregard governor’s order on vaccine exemptions

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Board of Education voted Wednesday to support county school systems in disregarding Governor Patrick Morrisey’s executive order that allows for religious and conscientious exemptions to the state’s school vaccination requirements.
During the meeting, the board approved a motion recommending the State Superintendent issue guidance instructing county school boards to follow the current compulsory school vaccination law.

One person dead following motorcycle crash in West Virginia

BRAXTON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 62-year-old man from Elkview was killed Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle crash near the Gerald R. Freeman Campground.
According to the West Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 1:20 p.m. on W.Va. Route 15, approximately two-tenths of a mile east of the campground.

Man arrested after stealing a bicycle and a kitten

FRANKFORD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Authorities arrested Vesper Lewis after he allegedly broke into his mother’s home, threatened a woman, and stole both a bicycle and a kitten on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Greenbrier County deputies were dispatched to a home when the house sitter for the homeowner called 911 to report an active break-in. She told dispatchers that Lewis, the victim’s son, had unlawfully entered the home despite being previously barred from the property.

Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Aunt with Axe in Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A domestic disturbance turned violent on June 8, 2025, when Steven McKinney allegedly threatened his aunt with an axe at a residence, according to the Bluefield Police Department.
