West Virginia man admits to embezzling more than $624,000 from nonprofit veterinary clinic

HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Cabell County man has pleaded guilty to money laundering after admitting he embezzled more than $624,000 from a nonprofit veterinary clinic he managed.
Jerod Timothy Vannatter, 43, of Barboursville, pleaded guilty Monday to money laundering in federal court, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Wyoming County Board of Education schedules emergency meeting to appoint interim superintendent

WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Wyoming County Board of Education has scheduled an emergency meeting for Thursday to appoint an interim superintendent following Superintendent John Henry’s resignation.

Bluefield Police Department awarded $500,000 grant to support child and youth crime victims

BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Bluefield and Bluefield Police Department have been awarded a $500,000 federal grant aimed at expanding services for children and young people who are victims of crime.
The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime’s Fiscal Year 2026 Services for Victims of Crime Program.

Dog rescued from vehicle following rollover crash in Raleigh County

BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A dog was safely rescued from a vehicle following a rollover crash in Raleigh County on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.
According to the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the crash on Stanaford Road near Union Hall Road.
When firefighters arrived, the driver had already been assisted from the vehicle by members of the West Virginia State Police. However, a dog named Goose remained inside the vehicle and refused to come out for troopers.
