Search warrants in Greenbrier County lead to multiple drug arrests

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A series of search warrants executed in Fairlea on June 11 and 12, 2025, led to the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of illegal drugs, cash, and drug-related paraphernalia, according to a press release from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began on June 11 when members of the Greenbrier County Adult Probation Office conducted a compliance check at the residence of Todd Brown, located at an apartment on U.S. 219.

DHS ends humanitarian parole program for hundreds of thousands from four countries

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LOOTPRESS) – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Thursday that it has begun notifying hundreds of thousands of individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela that their temporary permission to live and work in the United States has been revoked.
The affected individuals had entered the U.S. under a humanitarian parole program launched by the Biden administration in October 2022.

One person arrested on DUI, drug charges after being found asleep in running vehicle

WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wood County deputies arrested a Parkersburg man early Tuesday after finding him asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle along Butcher Bend Road.
Deputies were called to the 1000 block just after midnight on June  4 when a resident reported an unfamiliar car idling at the end of his driveway.

Teen arrested for speeding through work zone on I-77

WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wood County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested a 19-year-old man after he was caught driving at an extreme speed through a construction zone on Interstate 77.
The incident occurred on June 3 when the deputy was stationed at mile marker 176 in a closed section of I-77, which provided access to both northbound and southbound lanes through a break in the temporary construction barrier.

Trump administration approves Bull Mountains coal mine expansion in Montana

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LOOTPRESS) – The U.S. Department of the Interior last week approved a modification to the mining plan for the Bull Mountains coal mine in Montana, a move that will allow Signal Peak Energy, LLC to extract approximately 22.8 million tons of federal coal and 34.5 million tons of adjacent non-federal coal.
The decision is expected to extend the life of the mine by up to nine years.
