Permit issued for Kanawha solar project

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia issued a certificate Monday to permit a solar power project in Kanawha County.
Mammoth Solar, LLC filed an application on June 30 and asked for a waiver of a hearing on the project. The Commission staff agreed with the application.
The 90-megawatt solar generating facility would consist of approximately 193,000 individual solar photovoltaic modules and would interconnect with an existing Appalachian Power Kanawha River

One person dead after vehicle strikes tree in West Virginia

BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 34-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 4 a.m. on November 22, 2025, to the intersection of Butts Mill Road and Ferrels Ridge Road, where a 2012 silver Ford F-250 had struck a tree.

Logan County brothers sentenced to federal prison on major drug charges

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two brothers from Bruno were sentenced to federal prison November 6 for trafficking large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other drugs in southern West Virginia, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
On November 6, 2025, Timothy Ray Gravley, 42, was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of a mixture containing fentanyl.

“Coffin Shock: ‘Dead’ Woman Wakes, Knocks Moments Before Cremation”

NONTHABURI, Thailand (LOOTPRESS) — A Thai woman narrowly escaped cremation and organ donation after temple workers heard an unexpected sound from her coffin: knocking.
Staff at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham, a Buddhist temple just outside Bangkok, were preparing to assist a grieving family when a white coffin in the back of a pickup truck suddenly began to move. Inside was a 65-year-old woman who had been presumed dead — but was very much alive.
