Caught between sisters

Dear Annie: I am caught in a very difficult family situation. I have twin sisters-in-law, Tricia and Tanya, who have not spoken to each other in more than 25 years. To complicate things further, Tanya and her mother have also been estranged for 24 years.
I’ve managed to maintain good relationships with both sisters, but things have come to a head. Their mother, whom I have personally cared for over the past five years with no help from anyone else, has just been admitted to a nursing home. Her

Op-Ed: Keeping the government open shouldn’t be a partisan fight

As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, one of my primary responsibilities is ensuring that our government is responsibly funded so it remains open and working for the people we represent, including the hardworking West Virginians.
That’s why I’m deeply disappointed to see Washington once again stumble into a completely avoidable government shutdown—this time because Senate Democrats have refused to join Republicans in supporting a commonsense, short-term measure that would

Horoscope

In the afterparty Hunter’s Moon, the wild lunar light from Aries reminds us that nothing stays the same. Accept change; reject change; change doesn’t notice or care either way. Change does what it always has done and always will do — change happens. You don’t have to acknowledge or integrate it, but you’ll be more powerful if you do.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You feel things deeply. That intensity can be overwhelming, yet it fuels you. You wouldn’t be so funny or insightful if you didn’t have

Barkley struggles to duplicate his 2,000-yard rushing season

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Maybe Saquon Barkley should fire off a cryptic social media post in the next day or two if he wants to carry the ball more than six times.
What else would it take for the Philadelphia Eagles to remember they have a 2,000-yard rusher and the 2024 AP Offensive Player of the Year in the backfield?
Forget chasing history as the first running back to get consecutive 2,000-yard rushing seasons. Barkley might not even crack 1,000 yards at his paltry rate through five games for the

National Park Service looking to reshape

HARPERS FERRY(AP) — By the roiling rapids of converging rivers, President Donald Trump’s campaign to have the government tell a happier story of American history confronts its toughest challenge. There is no positive spin to be put on slavery.
At frozen-in-time Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, people in the National Park Service are navigating shoals that federal storytellers across the nation must now negotiate. How do you tell the truth if it might not be the whole truth?
As part of a
