CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Across West Virginia, slick roads were the first thing a lot of West Virginians encountered to start the new year.
An anticipated snowfall didn’t hit the Charleston area the and parts of Central West Virginia the way it was expected on New Year’s Eve. However, the National Weather Service said a squall which passed through Thursday morning created dangerous driving on many roadways. A wreck on I-77 northbound closed parts of the interstate. The wreck was blamed on black ice

As we wrap up the year, a lot of people have asked, “How’s retirement?” My standard response is, “Well, I was really good at work, but I’m really bad at retirement.”
I’m mostly joking, but there is an element of truth to it.
The fact is, I’ve been really busy since I stepped away from my full-time responsibilities with MetroNews and WVRC Media last January. Some days, I’m busier than I had planned, but for me that’s better than having too much free time on my hands.
