MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Sydney Shaw spent much of last summer acclimating to new surroundings and head coach Mark Kellogg’s system ahead of her junior season at West Virginia.

Reflections on a long, hard ride

Iowa is not flat.
I can tell you that with great certainty after peddling 406 miles across the state last week along with my wife, three friends and about 20,000 other bike riders during the 52nd annual RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, the oldest, longest and largest recreational bike event in the world.)
In fact, I would describe the Hawkeye State as hilly—or as some like to say, flat like a waffle. It is also windy, but I’ll get to that in a minute.

Benson visits WV Regional Technology Park as part of statewide trip

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — New West Virginia University President Michael T. Benson stopped by South Charleston Wednesday evening to get a glimpse of the West Virginia Regional Technology Park and speak with officials and supporters.

Authorities identify victims of Kanawha County murder-suicide

MIAMI, W.Va. — The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the father and son that died over the weekend in a murder-suicide.
William Charles Moles, 50, fatally shot his son, Charles Anthony Moles, 33, on the front porch of a residence on Geneva Lane in the Miami part of eastern Kanawha County early Saturday morning.

Victim identified in fatal hit-and-run in Greenbrier County

LEWISBURG, W.Va. –The woman who died in a fatal hit-and-run in Greenbrier County this past weekend has been identified
According to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, Miranda Gray, 24, of Charmco, was found along U.S. Route 60 near the community of Hines on July 27 at approximately 7:50 a.m.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey spotlighted West Virginia’s upcoming sales tax holiday, which starts Friday.
