WVU women’s basketball team to face Duke in November at The Greenbrier

In a continued effort for West Virginia’s women’s basketball team to beef up its non-conference schedule, the Mountaineers will face Duke as part of the Greenbrier Tip-Off on Friday, November 14 at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs.
The contest will take place inside The Greenbrier’s Colonial Hall and is part of an already announced four-game event from November 21-23 featuring power conference programs Butler, Virginia, Northwestern and South Carolina.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –Students at a Cabell County school will soon experience a greater sense of collaboration and accessibility when they step into their new building in two weeks.

Pennsylvania motorcyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run in Ohio County

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — A Pennsylvania man is reportedly in critical condition after being struck while riding his motorcycle on I-70 in Ohio County.
Authorities say the 37-year-old man was struck by a tractor trailer in westbound lanes and pushed into the guardrail near the 6-mile marker.
The victim was rushed to Wheeling Hospital.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Labcorp opens 18th patient service center in the Mountain State

KANAWHA CITY, W.Va. — A predominate medical laboratory testing corporation is continuing to expand its services in the Mountain State.
Labcorp cut a ribbon on its 18th patient service center in West Virginia Thursday. They also held an open house of the new facility.
The new facility is now open along MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City, and dignitaries across the Charleston community came out to show their support.

Senate committee considers West Virginia’s Stuart as top lawyer for RFK Jr.’s DHS

Longtime West Virginia political figure Mike Stuart, up for being the top attorney to U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was peppered with questions during a Senate confirmation hearing about his views on the opioid crisis and his commitment to adhering to the law.
Stuart appeared with several other nominees today for a two-hour hearing before the U.S. Senate Finance Committee. He is being considered to be the general counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

PINEVILLE, W.Va. — There will be a new prosecuting attorney in Wyoming County on Friday. Derek Laxton will be sworn in for the job on Friday and take over for Prosecutor Greg Bishop who recently announced he would step down.

Kidnapping suspect arrested in Monongalia County, child reunited with family

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A suspect in a Berkeley County kidnapping of a child was arrested in Monongalia County Wednesday night.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department was notified by deputies in Marion County that Tiffanie Dokes-Klauser was at the truck stop at I-79 and Goshen Road and had an active felony kidnapping warrant.

Kanawha County deputy charged with sexually assaulting female inmate waiting for court hearing

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County sheriff’s deputy is in custody after allegedly sexually assaulting a female inmate at the Kanawha County Judicial Building in downtown Charleston.
Cass Close, 54, of Quick, who has served as a court bailiff, was arraigned Thursday morning on the charge of imposition of sexual acts on persons incarcerated, detained or under supervision.

Missing child located in Greenbrier County

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Greenbrier County deputies have arrested a woman in connection with her missing daughter.
Greenbrier County Deputies were notified this past Saturday the juvenile girl had been missing since July 2nd from the Davis Stuart Apartments, but was only now being reported missing. Deputies spoke to the parents and a day later were able to speak with the girl’s friends about her possible whereabouts.
