West Virginia DMV encourages everyone to get their REAL ID before May 7th deadline

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Wednesday marks the last day you can get your REAL ID.
The REAL ID is a heightened security measure following the Real ID Enforcement Act of 2005– being put into place two decades later– and it’s required for passengers to board domestic flights at airports or enter some government buildings.

Commissioners drop minimum age for youth hunter participation

KEYSER, W.Va. — After several years of complaints from parents, the West Virginia Natural Resources Commission has acted to remove a minimum age for those who may participate in the state’s Youth Hunting Seasons.

Charleston leaders continue to express confidence in future Capital Sports Center after announcing its pause

Remaining NIOSH employees told jobs will be cut July 2

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The remaining employees at NIOSH in Morgantown who were told last month they may lose their jobs in federal budget cuts were told Friday evening they will lose their jobs July 2.

Victims identified from Saturday storm in Jefferson County

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — The man killed in Jefferson County during Saturday afternoon’s storms in the Eastern Panhandle has been identified.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Victor Lupis said Tyler Sigler, 28, of Charles Town died after a tree fell on the golf cart he was in at Locust Hill Golf Course.
Despite life-saving efforts on scene, Sigler was transported to Jefferson Medical Center and pronounced dead, Lupis said.

Tennessee man dies in crash with DOH dump truck in Nicholas County

MOUNT NEBO, W.Va. — A Tennessee man died after his car slammed into a state Division of Highways truck in Nicholas County Monday morning.
According to a news release from the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department, Ronald Carelli, 54, of Hixson, Tennessee, was traveling south on U.S. Route 19 at Mount Nebo when his car hit a DOH dump truck at the stoplight at the intersection of state Route 41 at around 9:20 a.m.

Natural Resources Commission meeting format to change drastically

KEYSER, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources will change its long held format for meetings of the Natural Resources Commission. Nelson takes closer at revenue collection numbers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State Revenue Secretary Eric Nelson says revenue collection numbers are headed in the right direction with two months left in the fiscal year but there are a lot of moving parts that will impact where the state ends the budget year on June 30.
