Morrisey says Harrison County track team girls should not be punished because sports-trans law is on hold

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Patrick Morrisey says girls in Harrison County should not be disciplined by their track coaches if they decide not to compete against a biological boy in a track meet.

Fayette County Schools discuss potential cell phone ban in classrooms

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — The Fayette County Board of Education is having discussions on a potential cell phone ban in the classroom.
This comes after Governor Patrick Morrisey signed HB 2003 into law on April 29, allowing for school districts to prohibit the use of cell phones.
The legislation takes effect at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year and it aims to reduce classroom distractions and improve student focus.

Man comes into Huntington gas station badly injured, claims he was shot

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington Police are investigating an incident from Tuesday morning where a man came into a gas station with numerous injuries.
Officers responded to the Sheetz on 18th Street West just after 5 o’clock when a man came in saying he had suffered a gunshot wound.

Huntington Police investigating hit-and-run

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Huntington Police Department is looking into a potential hit-and-run incident from Monday.
Officers say a 20-year-old woman reported that she was struck while utilizing the crosswalk in the 400 block of 20th Street. The victim suffered minor injuries.
The victim told police that the vehicle that struck her was a red sedan traveling southbound.
