Bailey yet to rule on status of football players, but NCAA lawyer claims Robinson is academically ineligible

County clerks weigh in on potential change to use of polling machines

TUCKER COUNTY, W.Va. — County clerks across the Mountain State are at the Canaan Valley Resort in Tucker County for the three-day County Clerks Election Training Conference.
One of the many topics set to be covered during the conference is President Donald Trump’s executive order that may affect the state’s May Primary Elections in 2026.

Attorneys for state school board ask for a swift review of vaccine exemptions case

Lawyers for the state Board of Education are asking the state Supreme Court to swiftly review a case about religious exemptions to school vaccination requirements.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall’s season opener at Georgia comes in 11 days, but the pace of preparation for a game “between the hedges” in Athens is intensifying daily.

Private company that’s buying 4 state hospitals plans no patient or employee moves

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The recent sale of four state-run health care facilities to the Marx Development Group raised many questions and some of those are being answered.

DEP approves air quality permit for data center planned for Tucker County

DAVIS, W.Va. — The state Department of Environmental Protection has approved an air quality permit for a data center in Tucker County.
The DEP said Virginia-based Fundamental Data LLC has met the requirements to receive a permit.

Deputies recovering from fall

CEDAR GROVE, W.Va. — Two Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies are recovering from injuries suffered during a Monday evening man hunt in eastern Kanawha County.
The deputies responded to the Cedar Grove area where the local police were dealing with a drug incident and realized they person they were dealing with had an outstanding warrant. They tried to serve the warrant on an individual at the local Go-Mart convenience store. The suspect fled into the woods.

Names released in Mount Carbon shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen released more information Tuesday about a shooting in the Mount Carbon community which occurred Monday. The incident in the Adena Village neighborhood left two people dead, including the shooter, and three more wounded.
The victim was identified as John Middleton, 49, of Mount Carbon. He was killed by a shotgun blast while he stood talking to three other individuals in a carport near a home. The other three individuals standing with him

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State University has announced plans to bring former West Virginia University President Gordon Gee back this year as an advisor.
