Wheeling Park’s Wack picks Yale to combine athletic and academic prowess

Brennan Wack consistently ran through defenses during a decorated career at Wheeling Park.
All the while, Wack never lost sight of what was most important, and maintained a 4.5 grade-point average throughout his time as a Patriot.
Wack feels he has an ideal fit at the next level to combine his athletic and academic prowess, and on Wednesday, he signed his National Letter of Intent to continue on at Yale.

Wounded West Virginia National Guard member shares first post since D.C. shooting

West Virginia National Guard Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe shared his first Facebook post two months after being shot in Washington, D.C., in November 2025.
Wolfe said in the post, “I’m grateful to be alive. Thank you for your prayers and support. It’s been overwhelming, and I’m still trying and determined. It’s been hard to go through something like this. Thank you for everything.”

Charleston man sentenced in 2024 DUI fatal crash

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. –A Kanawha County man received the maximum sentence Monday in relation to a DUI fatal crash that occurred in South Charleston in 2024.

Alva Jones, 46, of Charleston appeared in court Monday and was sentenced to 3-to-15 years in prison and has to pay a $4,000 fine for the deadly multi-vehicle crash on Corridor G.
Jones pleaded guilty to DUI causing death and DUI causing bodily injury in late 2025. He caused the crash on November 2024 that killed

Senators advanced legislation allowing 18- to 20-year-olds carry a concealed weapon without a permit.
Senate Bill 30 would effectively standardize concealed carry regulations across all age groups of legal adulthood within the state. Much of the bill just strikes out what have been limitations placed on gun owners aged 18 to 20.
The Senate Judiciary Committee discussed the bill for about 45 minutes on Tuesday afternoon before advancing it. The bill now goes to the full Senate.

Clarksburg man arrested for threatening to kill ICE agents

CLARKSBURG – Federal authorities have charged a Clarksburg man who threatened to kill ICE officers in West Virginia. 
According to press release, Cody Smith was arrested after federal agents executed a search warrant on his residence in Clarksburg on Jan. 22. Smith allegedly called the ICE Tip Line on Jan. 16 and left an obscenity-laced message, threatening to kill any ICE agents he saw in Clarksburg. The message included references to ICE and President Trump.
