Baylous named state DHS secretary following retirement from U.S. Marshals

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Two days after announcing his retirement as the U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of West Virginia, Michael Baylous has a new job, with Gov. Patrick Morrisey naming him as the new Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security.

Troubled Fayette County PSD needs immediate help

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Public Service Commission has received an emergency petition from the Page-Kincaid Public Service District for approval of an Interim Emergency Operations and Maintenance agreement between them and West Virginia American Water Company in Fayette County.

U.S. Marshal Michael Baylous reflects on career ahead of Feb. 8 retirement

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of West Virginia Michael Baylous reflected Thursday afternoon on his career in law enforcement.
Baylous announced Wednesday that he will officially retire Sunday, Feb. 8, after eight years in the position.
He was nominated by President Donald Trump during his first term in 2018 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate that February.

Gilmer County receives 36 points from the Dobbins sisters to defeat Parkersburg Catholic

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Boosted by one of their best defensive efforts of the season, Gilmer County held Parkersburg Catholic to a season-low point total in a 47-18 victory at PCHS.
Outside of an 8-0 run from the Crusaderettes to open up the second half, the defending Class A state champions controlled play on the defensive end of the floor to improve their record to 13-1 while sweeping the regular season series between the teams. GCHS defeated Catholic, 64-41 last month in Glenville.

Wayne Officials Modify “Do Not Consume” Order to “Do Not Drink”

WAYNE, W.Va. –Town of Wayne officials modified the ‘do not consumer’ order nearly three weeks after an oil spill from a substation leaked into a nearby creek and affected the community’s water supply.
The notice from the town was issued Thursday and changed the order to a ‘do not drink’. This comes after recent testing results showed no signs of harmful contaminants in the town’s drinking water.
