WVU rallies from 5 runs down twice to win Clemson Regional, 13-12 over Kentucky

The “if necessary” game will not be necessary for West Virginia to advance to NCAA Super Regional play for the second consecutive year. The Mountaineers defeated Kentucky, 13-12 in Game 6 of the Clemson Regional, using a pair of six-run innings to bounce back from a pair of five-run deficits.
The marathon game, which saw 17 different pitchers take the mound, took 4 hours and 31 minutes to complete.

Child welfare advocates view governor’s vow for transparency with optimism

As Gov. Patrick Morrisey pledged his administration will be more open about the challenges of West Virginia’s child welfare system, people who watch the system closely are hoping for the best.

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — For the first time in the organization’s history, a full-time Executive Director will lead the Friends of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve’s board and its fundraising efforts.

WV higher education officials celebrating recent FAFSA numbers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A recent report from the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) shows that West Virginia ranks 15th in the nation for FAFSA completion.
State Higher Education Chancellor Dr. Sarah Armstrong Tucker announced the figures to members of the West Virginia Council on Community and Technical Colleges last week and also pointed out that West Virginia is up four spots from last year.

One person injured after side-by-side rollover

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. –One person was injured after a side-by-side rolled over in Kanawha County Sunday morning.
According to officials with the Pinch Volunteer Fire Department, the incident happened just before 2:30 in the area of Kendalia Road which is located near the Sanderson Coal Tipple.

Putnam County Development Authority purchases 84,000 square foot warehouse for industrial leasing

CULLODEN, W.Va. — The Putnam County Development Authority (PCDA) is continuing to expand economic opportunities in the region– this time through the purchase of an 84,000 square foot industrial warehouse.
PCDA recently announced the purchase of the industrial property. It’s located at 2301 Virginia Avenue in Culloden.

Two men injured in early Sunday morning shooting in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Two men are in the hospital after an early morning shooting Sunday in Charleston.
According to police, the incident happened in the 1800 block of 7th avenue, where two men are accused of shooting at each other during an attempted robbery. Police said that one man was shot in the abdomen, and the other man was shot in the collarbone.
Currently, both men are recovering. No arrests have been made.
