Major bridge project in Morgantown highlights DOH’s plans in north central West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — As the weather warms up and construction season ramps up the state Division of Highways has a long list of projects in north central West Virginia. DOH District 4 Manager Earl Gaskins said it’s a large area with lots of work planned.

Jefferson County authorities release information about deadly motorcycle crash

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. — A motorcycle crash in Jefferson County Sunday claimed a life.
Lt. Robert Sell with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department tells The Panhandle News Network that Law Enforcement and Fire/EMS were dispatched to Route 115 and the intersection of Old Creamery Place in Kearneysville just after 6 in the evening for a single motorcycle crash with serious injury.

State officials characterize finances as steady, but they’re watching national factors

West Virginia’s most recent monthly state revenue report was about on target with projections, but state officials are continuing to watch outside factors at the national level.

Mountaineers bound for Baton Rouge after LSU closes out regional with win over Little Rock

No. 6 LSU rallied from a four-run deficit to finally push past Little Rock in the decisive game of the Baton Rouge Regional, 10-6. The Tigers (46-15) will host West Virginia (44-14) in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament. The best-of-three series will begin Friday or Saturday.

Man facing murder charges after allegedly running over woman with car in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. — A man has been arrested after an incident where authorities say a woman was run over by a car and killed.

Feds confirm workers have returned for black lung screening via NIOSH — but not all functions yet

Lawyers for the federal government have filed a court-ordered certification that jobs focused on black lung screening at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health have been restored.
However, that filing includes a bottom line that the agency still is not able to fully perform support for black lung screening — including contracting for work on chest X-rays, communicating to promote black lung screening events and reliably funding the work of black lung screening.
