Next phase of Yeager improvement project announced

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Plans for the next major component of the CRW Next Terminal Development Project has been released by the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority.

The CWVRAA released the $8 million dollar investment, which was made possible by the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Terminals Program grant, will help focus on renovating and modernizing the Pre-security areas of the terminal at West Virginia International Yeager Airport.

Veteran line to lead Morgantown against a daunting schedule

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — If Morgantown can continue to follow their steady annual progression in 2025, the Mohigans could be a significant factor in the latter stages of the Class AAAA playoffs. Under sixth-year head coach Sean Biser, MHS has increased their win total by one in each season since 2021. Last fall, Morgantown won their first playoff game since 2016 by defeating Woodrow Wilson. Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office to host first “You’re Not Alone” event to help those struggling with addiction, mental health issues

BECKLEY, W.Va. — The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is partnering up with various organizations to extend support out to those in the community who may need it the most.
The sheriff’s office will host a community outreach event Wednesday night known as the “You’re Not Alone” event for those suffering from substance abuse or mental health issues to get the resources they need.
The event will take place at the Sheetz along Robert C. Byrd Drive in Beckley from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. Wednesday.

MSHA issues final report on February mine fatality

Investigators from the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration have completed an investigation into a fatal mining accident in Raleigh County from February.
The accident on February 28th claimed the life of Billy Stalker, 46, who was the head of a contracted construction crew. The crew was hired to install main line J-Seals in a section of Marfork Coal Company’s Black Eagle Mine near Pettus, W.Va. in Raleigh County.

Testimony in Appalachian Power’s rate hike case turns toward securitization plans

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Testimony during the second day of Appalachian Power’s rate hike case before the state Public Service Commission continued to leak into another case the PSC is considering from the utility.

WVSSAC announces staff additions

The WVSSAC Tuesday announced several additions to its staff: Dr. Jaclyn Swayne and Chris Wells have been named Assistant Executive Directors, and Jason Bankston has been appointed as Director of Compliance.

Son of former state senator is charged with her robbery and murder

A judge has set a Nov. 12 trial date for the adult son of former state Senator Sondra Lucht over allegations that he picked her up and threw her across the room into a wall, causing injuries that led to her death.

Eighth victim recovered from Wheeling area flash flood; man was not on original list

WHEELING, W.Va. — The body of an eighth victim was recovered Wednesday morning in connection with the devastating flash flooding in and around Wheeling.
Gov. Patrick Morrisey released the information in a Wednesday morning news briefing in Wheeling.
“Eight people are confirmed dead in Ohio County. It’s an unidentified male,” Morrisey said.

Marion County Schools begins cleanup after flash flooding affects multiple schools
