Mountaineers hope to build off strong offensive showing in Game 2 at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. — Things went south for West Virginia in the middle innings of Saturday’s Super Regional series opener, with the Mountaineers allowing all 16 Tiger runs over the fourth, fifth and six frames.
As a result, WVU (44-15) is on the brink of elimination entering Game 2 in the best-of-three set at 6 p.m. (EST) Sunday.

Arrests made after vape, THC shops in Greenbrier County checked for compliance

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Greenbrier County authorities made several arrests this week following checks of five shops that sell vaping and THC products.
A total of eight people have been charged with various crimes. Four of the eight allegedly sold “a hemp-derived cannabinoid product to a person under the age of 21.”
“It is our duty to protect the health and safety of our community — especially our children,” Greenbrier County Sheriff Bart Baker and Greenbrier Prosecutor Nicole Campbell said in a joint

Troopers charge 2 Greenbrier County men in December death

RAINELLE, W.Va. — State police have arrested two Greenbrier County men in connection with a December 2024 death.
Troopers said Ellis Woodrow Wilson, 49, and Justin Junior Rich, both of Quinwood, took part in the death of Audrie “A.J.” Sloan Jr.
Sloan was reported missing last December. His body was found in Nicholas County in May. Troopers said an autopsy showed the death was a homicide.
Wilson is charged with first degree murder and Rich is charged with being an accessory before the fact of

Latest rain system produces flash flood warnings in West Virginia

A few flash flood warnings were issued Saturday morning. (Graphic/NWS)
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service issued several flash flood warnings Saturday morning as what’s expected to be the first round of storms of the day moved across the state.
The warnings covered areas in Barbour, Upshur, Marion, Preston and Tucker counties. All warnings were set to expire by 10 a.m.
Meteorologists said most of the rain would exit the state by mid to late morning with the bulk of Saturday
