RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Motorists traveling along Robert C. Byrd Drive in Crab Orchard should expect brief traffic stops Sunday as Appalachian Power crews complete electrical infrastructure work in the area.

VIENNA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Toys “R” Us is set to open a new store at Grand Central Mall in Vienna this fall.

West Virginia woman charged with murder, arson nearly one year after deadly house fire

HARPERS FERRY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia woman has been charged with murder and arson nearly one year after a house fire in Jefferson County left two people dead.
According to the West Virginia State Police, troopers from the Charles Town Detachment responded to Blackberry Lane in Harpers Ferry at approximately 9:02 a.m. on September 30, 2025, to assist Jefferson County Emergency Services with a residential structure fire.
When troopers arrived, the home was heavily engulfed in flames.

Princeton Police reopen 2012 cold case murder investigation

PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Princeton Police Department has reopened a cold case investigation into the 2012 murder of Angela Lynne Cook, also known as Angela McKinney.
Cook’s body was discovered on January 19, 2012, inside an abandoned and condemned building near what was then 823 Mercer Street in Princeton. The building has since been demolished.
Cook’s death was ruled a homicide. Despite an extensive investigation, police were unable to make an arrest in the case.

Two North Carolina men arrested after meth, cell phones found in FCI McDowell contraband investigation

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two North Carolina men were arrested Tuesday following an investigation into contraband allegedly being brought into the Federal Correctional Institution McDowell.
According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, approximately 196 grams of suspected methamphetamine, three cell phones, tobacco and other items were recovered during the investigation.

Flash Flood Warning issued for parts of Fayette, Raleigh counties; flooding occurring in Beckley

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston has issued a Flash Flood Warning for portions of Fayette and Raleigh counties as heavy rain moves through the area Tuesday night.
The warning includes south-central Fayette County and central Raleigh County and remains in effect until 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.
At 8:45 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain had already fallen, and the NWS said flash
