Valley Health Care announces expansion in Mill Creek

MILL CREEK — Valley Health Care has announced the launch of a major campus expansion project of the health care company’s presence in Mill Creek.
Officials said the project will more than double the size of the current facility and modernize its capacity to provide comprehensive, accessible care.
The expansion will include the development of a new 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art health center, a significant increase from the 8,000 square feet of the current clinical space, officials said.

Supreme Court OKs Tennessee ban on gender-affirming care for kids

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for transgender minors, a jolting setback to transgender rights.
The justices’ 6-3 decision in a case from Tennessee effectively protects from legal challenges many efforts by President Donald Trump’s Republican administration and state governments to roll back protections for transgender people. Another 26 states have laws similar to Tennessee’s.

Mamet: Hard work and speaking out

Before he was David Mamet the acclaimed author, filmmaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, he worked a variety of low-paying jobs well into his 20s. Mamet said he knows what it’s like to get your hands dirty to make ends meet.

Woman facing felonies after Elkins apartment incident

ELKINS – A local woman is facing felony charges after she and another woman allegedly forced their way into an apartment and began fighting with a resident inside.
Destiny Rose McDonald, 25, is charged with breaking and entering and conspiracy, both felonies. She is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond, set by Magistrate Mike Dyer.

Alfred “Butch” Marshall Nesbitt, 76, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Monday, June 16, 2025, at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew, West Virginia.
He was born Jan. 27, 1949, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Roy Edward and Mary Gwendolyn Dean Nesbitt.
