Alum turning up volume in music business

If you’ve seen Charles Wesley Godwin’s live show, you’ve heard Ross Justice.
As front-of-house engineer and production manager, the West Virginia University alum and faculty member is the conduit between the band’s onstage energy and what the audience feels in the room.
“My job is to translate Charles’ music — and the energy of the live show — to the audience,” Justice said. “Then I handle the unglamorous stuff, too, like the logistics that make the show possible.”
Justice’s path into the

Houston defense overwhelms Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN — Houston’s top-ranked defense in the Big 12 just may have set a new standard Tuesday.
Unfortunately, it was West Virginia that became the latest victim.
The seventh-ranked Cougars — the defending Big 12 champs and the national runner-up last season — put on a defensive clinic, holding the Mountaineers to just five points over the first 15 minutes of the game, on their way to a 77-48 victory inside the Fertitta Center.
What did it look like? To the Mountaineers (11-6, 2-2 Big 12), it

Tomlin steps down after 19 seasons as Steelers coach

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Mike Tomlin was an unknown when the Pittsburgh Steelers plucked him from obscurity in 2007 and handed the young and charismatic Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator one of the most stable jobs in sports.
Over the next 19 seasons, Tomlin carved out his own chapter with one of the NFL’s marquee franchises, winning a Super Bowl and going to another while becoming one of the most respected voices — if idiosyncratic — voices in the game.
Asked repeatedly what separated Tomlin

State of confusion

Donald Trump has managed to plunge the United States into a state of confusion on both the domestic and international fronts. In Venezuela, the quick “victory” is rapidly losing its allure. In Minneapolis, the shooting of a citizen by ICE agents has added to the perception that the administration simply makes up its narrative without a concern for truth.
This is perhaps a reflection of the divisions within the White House staff. Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem have engaged in bombast and

Where do you stand?

“For what you see and hear depends a good deal on where you are standing: it also depends on what sort of person you are.” — C.S. Lewis, The Magician’s Nephew
Let’s start with the shooting of Renee Good, a Minneapolis woman killed by an ICE agent while attempting to drive away from the scene of an ICE operation.
Moments after the first videos were available the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz blamed ICE and called the shooting unnecessary.
The leftist activist
