Testimony begins in Appalachian Power’s $250 million rate case as largest customers question “constant drumbeat” of increases

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Appalachian Power Company is seeking its first base rate increase since 2019 but a group representing its largest customers says rates have gone up significantly in other ways since then.

HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Summers County man is facing charges after he was found unresponsive inside a vehicle with three young children nearby, including an infant left inside the hot van for an extended period of time.
According to Hinton Police Chief J.J. Crawford, the incident occurred on Friday, June 6, around 4:04 p.m., when dispatchers received a call about an unresponsive man in a van, with small children present. The vehicle was parked in Hinton, West Virginia.

LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. –A former Logan County coffee shop owner will be sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to three criminal charges in April.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Huntington man and former gymnastics coach will be going to prison for dozens of years after he abused multiple minors across several years.
