WHEELING, W.Va. –A Wheeling man has pleaded guilty to wildlife trafficking which has violated the Lacey Act.
According to court documents, Michael Kandis, 64, admitted to illegally pusrchasing snakes, in which dozens of them were bullsnakes. Bullsnakes are native to Indiana, in which they are illegal to sale under their state law.
Kandis is a reptile dealer and operates a reptile house in Wheeling. A covert investigation was done of a reptile show in the midwest which showed that Kandis

ELKINS — Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon suffered multiple injuries after attempting to detain a male individual Wednesday afternoon on Ward Road.
The sheriff, who recently broke his hand while working in his garage and is wearing a cast, was on routine patrol at the location when he came across a male subject punching a mailbox alongside the road, he said.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –State Attorney General J.B McCuskey announcing Friday that they have distributed nearly $3.5 million dollars to counties and cities in West Virginia as part of a recently settled antitrust lawsuit with Pfizer and Ranbaxy.

The lawsuit, which began in 2013 under Governor Patrick Morrisey who was the attorney general at the time, alleged that both companies delayed the release of the Ranbaxy’s generic version of the cholesterol drug Lipitor for 20 months.
