MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Nothing irked West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez more than his team’s inability to convert short yardage situations last Saturday when the Mountaineers fell to TCU, 23-17.
The Mountaineers failed to convert five fourth down plays in which they needed 1 or 2 yards to maintain possession, and it played a pivotal role in the Horned Frogs racing out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead and 20-7 halftime advantage.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — As the game progressed last Saturday, West Virginia quarterback Scotty Fox Jr. began to display more traits the Mountaineer coaching staff desires to see from the true freshman in what marked his second career start and first at home.
It wasn’t enough to prevent a 23-17 loss to TCU, but Fox’s performance did offer something the Mountaineers haven’t had much of since the start of Big 12 Conference play — hope.

Sydney Woodley scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting to pace the Mountaineers. She also added a team-best 5 steals. Woodley, a senior guard in her second season at WVU, came off the bench last season. She was in the starting five against FSU.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — While West Virginia has been faced with uncertainty and inexperience at quarterback that in part explains unproductive play at the sport’s most important position, the Mountaineers have been up against several teams on the other side of the spectrum.
