After posting a perfect five-game homestand to open up the season, the WVU men’s basketball team suffered their first loss of the season in a 70-67 setback against Clemson in the opening game of the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic in South Carolina.
Clemson jumped out to a 15-9 lead at the 12:30 mark of the first half. However, the Mountaineers outscored Clemson 23-10 for the remainder of the half to build a 32-25 lead at intermission.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mission accomplished for West Virginia across its five-game home stand to open the 2025-26 campaign under first-year head coach Ross Hodge.
The Mountaineers have displayed a strong defensive identity, allowing no more than 65 points in a game and fewer than 60 in four contests, while featuring a different leading scorer in every game to this point.
