WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Senate has passed a funding package to reopen the federal government.

The focus on the shutdown, which heads into its 42nd day Tuesday, shifts to the U.S. House which would need to approve the Senate measure before the government can reopen.
Eight Senate Democrats joined Republicans in passing the bill Monday night on a 60-40 vote. The clean funding resolution would fund the government through Jan. 30, 2026.
