MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The 2025 season concludes for West Virginia on Saturday afternoon in the form of a matchup with seventh-ranked Texas Tech, which is No. 5 in the latest College Football Playoff Ratings and will play for a Big 12 Conference Championship next weekend against BYU in Arlington, Texas.
The Mountaineers (4-7, 2-6) have been competitive in four straight games, two of which have been wins, but they enter this contest their biggest underdog all season at 23 points.

Following the death of 20-year-old West Virginia National Guard Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, the federal prosecutor for the District of Columbia said the suspect now will face charges upgraded to first-degree murder.
Meanwhile, West Virginia is honoring Beckstrom’s memory.
“My baby girl has passed to Glory,” her father, Gary Beckstrom, posted on social media.

West Virginia National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, has died after being shot while on duty in Washington, D.C., Gov. Patrick Morrisey said.
“This is not the result we hoped for, but it is the result we all feared,” Morrisey said in a statement issued by the Governor’s Office.
Beckstrom is from Summersville and was assigned to the 863rd Military Police Company, 111th Engineer Brigade, West Virginia Army National Guard. She entered service on June 26, 2023.
