MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Mingo Central High School has been placed on a precautionary lockdown Monday after officials received a verbal threat, according to the Mingo County Board of Education.

Fayette County Humane Society begins final week at animal shelter

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Humane Society has entered its final week operating the county animal shelter before control of the facility transfers to the Fayette County Commission on Saturday, October 18.

Beloved Grandfather Mountain Otter, Nova, Dies Following Medical Complication

GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN, NC (LOOTPRESS) — Grandfather Mountain is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved residents, Nova the river otter, who died on Oct. 1 following complications from a suspected blood clot during a dental procedure. She was 12 years old.
“Nova will be greatly missed by all who knew her,” said Christie Tipton, animal habitats curator for the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation. “From staff to guests alike, but most of all by her keepers and her best friend, Oscar.”
