CHEAT LAKE, W.Va. — Representatives with the West Virginians Against Transmission Line Injustice were joined by Cheat Lake area residents to continue to voice opposition to the proposed MidAtlantic Resiliency Link, MARL, at a Wednesday evening meeting near Morgantown.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Candles were lit across the nation Wednesday night to honor babies lost during pregnancy or shortly after birth.
The International Wave of Light is a global event held to commemorate Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. For 24 hours, a continuous wave of light spans the earth, symbolizing love and remembrance for babies lost too soon.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –A second ‘No King’ rally is set for this Saturday in the capital city.
The first rally was held in June, and more than 5 million people attended across all of the rally’s combined. The rallies are a protest against the current political climate, particularly the Trump administration.
This rally, along with others in the state, will join more than 2,500 rallies across the nation.

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Patrick Morrisey has appointed Raleigh County attorney Donnie Lee Adkins II to the West Virginia Parole Board, highlighting his extensive background in criminal defense and public service.
Adkins, a Beckley native and owner of The Aspen Law Office in Raleigh County, brings years of legal experience to the board.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –A Webster County native became the newest member of the West Virginia House of Delegates Wednesday.
Gregory A. Watt, of Hacker Valley, was sworn in to represent the 48th District, which includes parts of Webster and Greenbrier counties. He will complete the unexpired term of former Delegate Tom Clark.
Watt is a retired U.S. Army officer and has 28 years of active-duty service and more than 16 years in defense contracting and program management.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall University has announced that the winning bid for construction of the school’s new cybersecurity center has been awarded.
Neighborgall Construction Company won the bid and will head up the construction of the $45 million facility.
The 72,000-foot facility will be right across Hal Greer Boulevard from Old Main.
C.R. Neighborgall, president of Neighborgall Construction, released a statement Wednesday. He says his team is excited to work on a project like this.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The YWCA Charleston unveiled a brand new, spray-painted mural to remember Katherine “Kitty” Dooley, a beloved attorney and activist in the Charleston community.

Dooley, who died almost two weeks ago, practiced law in the Capitol City for over 30 years and dedicated her life to service around the community.
Tyrone Scott, a local artist, was tasked with getting the mural ready on the back wall of the YWCA Kitty Dooley Center for Community Enrichment.

PICKENS – An entire community was rejoicing Wednesday morning, the day after Randolph County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shawn Dilly canceled a public hearing to determine the fate of Pickens K-12 School.
About 90 minutes before the school closure hearing was to take place on Tuesday afternoon, Dilly announced on social media that “new information related to funding” had been received that “may support keeping Pickens open for an additional year.”
